Mistress of the Hive is a dear teddy doll pincushion.
She carefully tends her bee friends and in return she has all the honey she desires!
Mistress' head and upper body are created from soft hand dyed German mohair.
Her lower body "skirt pincushion" is hand dyed wool.
It's difficult to photograph all the details but on her skirt there are 7 Bees, each embroidered with multiple bullion knots. Another tiny bee is on the little pincushion that hangs at her side and yet another wee bee has landed on the back of her bonnet!
Mistress' bonnet and shawl are also created from hand dyed wool.
At her side along with the tiny pincushion hang a pair of scissors and a wooden spool of thread. An antique hat pin is stuck in for good measure!
She's nicely weighted and will keep you fine company while you stitch away the hours.
